Hi!

I'm looking at a new VPN supplier. I need a L2TP for my Netgear router (only has an American Xbox One connected) and at the same time I'd like to run a SmartDNS on my games PC for iHeart radio. So:

(The router the XOne is connected to is a standalone router thats then connected to the ADSL/Main network router, it does NOT affect the PC's in the house at all)

  1. My XOne router is NOT one of those WRT things, it does however support L2TP, am I able to use this?
  2. Is iHeart supported on SmartDNS?
  3. I've tried smartdns systems before and they often need my ip updated on them, do Ace offer a system tray app that does this automatically or is it not needed at all?

Thanks loads!

Yes L2TP is supported on the router however OpenVPN is preferred.

Not yet but we can add the support for it.

We provide 1-click url update which can be used in most dynamic dns programs to update your IP address. Many routers including dd-wrt and tomato support as well. We don't offer system tray app at this time. You will have to use 3rd party program.

Thank you for the very positive responses! :)

How do I request iHeart? Desperate to play World of Tanks and listen to a certain radio station?

The One click URL update is cool - just one provider provided this and it could take up to 30 minutes for the system to update ... in the meantime, I couldn't connect! Hope it's not the same long time update? :) Can you recommend a 3rd party app?

Sadly my router doesn't support OpenDNS.

I also want to request support for iHeart and Slacker Radio in SmartDNS.

Thank you

On what device are you looking to access? We need some additional information. Please email support (at) acevpn.com referring this thread. We will take it from there.

Guys,

be aware that SOME radio channels on iHeart are geo-restricted but, not all.

For example WJRR (Orlando, Florida) but when your representative tried to set up iHeart he must have been trying a different station that wasn't Geo-restricted as it was working for him.... once he tried WJRR he realised that THAT station was restricted and resolved it for me.

You are right, other services like Hulu and Slacker display a warning letting you know that the service is georestricted, but iHeart doesn't, sometimes stations don't work and you keep wondering why until you switch to a different location and then it works.
